Angle campaign evidences sense of humor

No, I have not joined Team Angle.

But I did get a little gift from the Sharron Angle for Senate campaign today, a token of appreciation that shows a side of the candidate we rarely see: the humorous side.

Angle spokeswoman Ciara Matthews today dropped by the windowless compound on the Review-Journal campus where CityLife is headquartered to present me with a black jersey — complete with my name! — from Team Angle. It’s a reference, of course, to the recent coverage of a 1992 incident in which Angle reportedly opposed black jerseys for the Tonopah High School football team, since the color black was evil and evoked the devil.

Here’s the jersey, front and back:

And, yes, here’s a iPhone photo of me, taken by the aforementioned Matthews, patiently holding the jersey in question.

Now, let’s be clear about something: Although Angle (via Matthews) has said she has no problem with the color black, it’s entirely possible she still believes black is totally evil, and offering a black jersey to me is her way of saying, “Thanks for all the great press, devil boy.” I’m just saying.

UPDATE: I’m not the only journalist to get a jersey, either! All the cool kids got one.
