Gibbons gives penultimate political speech

We’ll have more analysis of Gov. Jim Gibbons’s State of the State speech later today, but for now, we offer this: Can there be any doubt that his speech was, in reality, a last dying gasp of breath than this fundraising letter, which went out shortly after he stopped talking?

  1. Jason says:

How do you spell “during”? Wouldn’t the 15 days have started yesterday?

  2. Actually, the clock starts once he signs the proclamation to call the session. If he doesn’t do that until 5 p.m., the contributions are legal.

  3. Eric says:

Cutting taxes seems to be more important than good grammar and spelling.

  4. dave404 says:

Should I work with the R-J’s Vogel and send the money to Gibbons on Friday?

How much would it be if Bob Beers had been elected governor in 2006?! The budget would, per his population+inflation index rule/law, have been $7,949,042,997 instead of the $6,945,989,705 the legislature approved; we would be $2 billion in the hole!

  5. Penultimate speech? As in “next to last”?

Why, I am shocked that you don’t expect Gibbons to win re-election handily!
